Please, never let someone make you feel badly about your beautiful work. My mother used to say "consider the source" and then let it go. Bless your heart, I am sorry you felt bad because that quilt is absolutely beautiful....

This older man came in, sat down across the waiting room from me and kept watching what I was doing. After several minutes of looking at my quilt, he asked how long it had taken me to quilt it. This was a large full size which I had quilted double feathered wreaths on, so it took about 15 hours of quilting time. He grunted and made a comment about he bet the fabric was even new. Then he went into a loud and lenghty speach about how women these days don't know how to make a quilt. How they (quilts) should be made from scraps of clothing. Should never be made from new material. Should all be done by hand, etc. on and on. I really felt small. I finally folded my quilt and went to my car to wait on my husband.

That is a MOST gorgeous Quilt! What an ignorant, self-important, 'little man'. Just think, I bet he has hairy toes.... yeah. There are just some people who enjoy belittling others in order to feel more self-important. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that doesn't mean that we are entitled to rip other people to shreds by expressing it. Obviously, his mamma didn't teach him right. My GRAND momma would have hit him up side the head with a board to learn him! She would have said... "Huh! Where are your manners?! What-- was you brought up in a barn?" (Like I said, I bet he's got nasty, hairy toes.) lol Yup.

I love that quilt... and I wish I had the courage and knowledge of how to handquilt or even FMQ feathers like that. I'm 'new', so I send mine off to a quilter who knows. One day, I hope to be as skilled as you are..... God bless you. Oh! And here's your hug!!! >>>>>>

What a beautiful quilt. I'll bet he never made one in his life. Yours was made from scraps of material, you just cut it the way you wanted first! Be proud it is well deserved.

Beautiful quilt as for the mans comments, consider the source. Maybe in his time things were done that way, but nowdays we have the luxury of being able to buy the material we want. Keep on quilting girl.

It is beautiful. I wish I had the patience and skill to do something like that.

We have computerized embroidery machines and every time we set up at an event, some old man (never an old lady!) always remarks about that's cheating. I always ask if he rode a horse to wherever we are. He always says no and I say that's progress and so is this and point to the machines. Your quilt is beautiful and don't let anyone destroy your joy!
