I really like it. It could be that the design is not something he can relate to. Maybe he would have been happier with a plain patchwork quilt or a patriotic panel with quilt blocks around it.
It looks super, very up lifting.

That's so sad, I hope he re-thinks and realizes he made a mistake, but that moment cant be taken back.

I'm so so sorry. I know how much that hurts. Rejection is never good, but to have your father reject what you made for him really really hurts. If it helps any, I think its fabulous. You did a really good job and put a lot of love into it. Don't be so discouraged that you don't try again.

32 pages of comments! I didn't read them all, but I am sure they were all to the positive and you now know the wall hanging is really beautiful, very patriotic and most of us would be thrilled to receive such a lovingly pieced work of art!
As someone very early on said, even fathers make mistakes and your dad certainly did! I am really sorry for your hurt. Speaking from experience, when a parent says or does something so very hurtful, you never forget it but you will learn to not focus on that incident but the positives that are in your life.

What a rude thing to say!! I LOVE your quilt - great job. I hope you don't feel alone in this matter. My DH's mother has for 50+ years with "every" gift, told him even as a child, "What do I need THAT for?" And then when we give her Christmas or birthday gifts, 2 years later, we get the things we give her re-gifted back to us. I have learned to laugh and ALWAYS make sure I give her things "I" want!!! Eventually, I'll get them. Don't feel bad - people, even families, can act in ignorance or jealousy.

I am so sorry that your feelings were hurt. Personally I think it is lovely and very patriotic. Sometimes recipients (family, friends, etc.) do not know how to accept a gift handmade from the heart. Unsure if they are embarrassed or just uncomfortable being receivers. I don't know what was going through his mind.....but then, I really do not understand my father either.
Again....I am sorry that your feelings were hurt and he was insensitive to your gift. Hugs from me to you.

I made my Dad a quilt a while back. He stuck it in his closet. Yep, it does hurt.
