I love your quilt! It reminds me of one I made for my son for Christmas a year ago. It's a "lap" quilt, but he's 6'2", so I think it came out as a single size bed size!

He lives on the "other" coast: I live in Calif and he lives in Maryland. Whenever I go out to visit, he gladly takes me quilt shop hopping. I found out he loved batiks that way. So this quilt was a natural.

It was from McCalls Quilting magazine April 2008 and was called Gumballs. My son plays the piano so I called his "Paul Plays the Blues"

It was a very easy quilt to do.

    JanetM,

I didn't use a pattern, but after I got mine started, Alex Anderson published a "Hopscotch in Neutrals," which is basically the same. Her Un-border treatment inspired me.

    SaraSewing,

I didn't use stash. I spent a few months picking up a yard here, and a yard there, at the quilt shops I could get to. I tried to pick fabrics that said "am I blue or am I purple?" but I couldn't resist some obvious purples, too.

    ConnieF,

I sent the pic of mine to Alex, and she claimed she liked mine better, too! But I suppose that's "telling tales out of school!"
