Mel...we ALL do stuff like that occasionally (and I don't have kids so I always have to come up with some other excuse)...I'd go with the brown... :D And BTW...I think the whole border design is very classy looking... :D

Thanks! I was afraid it would look too boring, but I really like it with the flowers there. They're not the same type of flower, but the colour is dead on!

I love the flowers on the border. I think the tamer border is just what it needed this round. Really lovely.

I keep getting confused by the 'round 3' in the title... k3n was right, we need a 'round 4' thread. I'll do that and add the photos that are posted so far...

Glad to be right about something! Mel, I really like what you've done to Gai's - the cream was just what it needed. And any of the suggestions will be fine to bring it up to size, but how about the dark pink that you used for the inner? :-)

OK, k3n, here you are. The petals are sewn on, but only two or three of the centers are sewn on, the rest are only pinned. But I knew you wanted to see it before you packed up the computer. The flowers are 3d. Mom likes the quilt and said she wants to keep it! LOL I hope you like it too.

P.S. I got Mel's permission to overlap her border.

Wow!!! Triple wow! I LOVE those sunflowers. That is one heck of a lot of work you're putting in there. Thanks so much for the sneaky peek. Sunflowers (as you know) are one of my favourite flowers and they compliment the rooster PERFECTLY!!! :-D :-D :-D

PS the backgound fabric is perfect too - it picks up on fabric in Patti's triangles and looks like a grassy farmyard too!

Yeah, it's a batik that has most of the colors, including the dark red of Mel's border, and between it and the sunflowers, it just seems to emphasize the colors of the center, I think.
