    Piecing or applique is fine.

Also, Elle's center with the two rounds is on page 31.

Having just looked at the photo again, for me I think I would like another black border with perhaps some applique (if thats what you feel happy with) in the blues and pinks of the centre birds.

Hope that helps a bit Elle

Let me look through some applique patterns I have. I got 9 beautiful floral patterns from Distinctive Pieces and a cherry blossom branch too.

And it just so happens that I recently received a lot of yardage of black from Connecting Threads. :-D

Here are the patterns I have. I also have a large selection of Fusions in all color ranges. I got them for a french braid but they're not quite the graduated colors that I was looking for.

Not being in the RR I hope no one minds if I make a suggestion on Elle's center. I think a plain black narrow border would connect in the black again, and then a couple rows of watercolour squares like the center circle with some flowers embroidered or appliquéd the same colour as the ones in the center. (Of course I don't know what your rules are for your next rounds)

I am also not in this IRR. But I had a thought on Elle's next border. See the crude picture below. The checkerboard squares could be made up of the pastel colors in her center, alternating light and dark. The dark could even be the black. The checkerboard pattern could be just one row, also. Then applique the flowers in the black corners.

A couple of designs. The flowers are just representations of how it could look.
