Hi, ladies...and any gents. Found this thread as I was looking for info on one of these bachelor's chairs which I have. I'm particularly trying to figure out the age of it. If anyone has info about the ages of any of these they have seen, I'd like to know about it.

For example, the one referenced by hpylady included a patent number, which tells us it was patented in 1935.

If anyone is curious, pics of mine can be seen at https://picasaweb.google.com/114355683188665871439/AntiquesIroningBoardStepladderChairComboTBD.]https://picasaweb.google.com/1143556...ChairComboTBD.[/url]

Interesting that the patent number showed 1935! Here is a picture of mine set up next to my sewing machine table. I made the ironing board pad for it.

Thanks for the response. Here is one of several sites you can use to look up dates for patents: http://www.biddingtons.com/content/investingpatent.html

Here are a couple of pics of my ISSBL. Mine does not have, and appears never to have had, the non-slip pads on the steps. That is one thing that makes me think mine might be older.

If any one has one like mine I'd like to hear about it.

I saw it on the address earlier you put up. I think you might be right. It does look older. You didn't see a sticker up underneath it anywhere? That is where mine is. Hope someone can help you.

Isn't this funny, I have one but, I never iron on it. I use it for a step stool and seat for company in my sewing room. I should set it up when I am piecing. Duhhh...

Mine is a newer one bought eleven years ago made by a gent here in reno.

Lucky you. I saw one of these in a "country store" when I was in college. No money for extras, but I sure would have liked to have it.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best! How cute and practical that is.

Being that it is small, it is perfect for my little sewing room. Yeah! try it for piecing. You might just like it.
