i was inspired to go and poke in the dark corners of the house, as well. upstairs, i found, hiding in her case, an ancient white treadle machine. i haven't traced her lineage, yet, but she said her name is still a secret. in the living room, though, hiding under the bird cage, is a lovely old girl, from 1911. her serial number dates her to april, 1911, and she is a red eye treadle, as best i can tell--type 66. when i bought her from my girlfriend at work (nurses/quilters--hard to separate), jeannie apologized that she was missing the plate over the bobbin. guess what i found in the base of the case, tonight??? yup. now she is whole, and just waiting for some attention. and she said her name is sadie!

A new belt is easy to come by today, a little cleaning and some machine oil and your will be in 7th heaven wondering why you ever waited so long before using it. I wish my mom's inner workings hadn't worn out in the 60's. No one was repairing them or collecting them back them so I moved onto an electric and I hated it. Enjoy in good health
