Well worth the trip! They are closed the entire month of December. Since you have a far drive best to call ahead to make sure they are open. They dont have reservations but you dont wanna drive all that way on bad roads and be disappointed.

If going for the first time i would highly recommend May or June... the waterfall is running, flowers are out, geese have returned to nest, etc! That way you get the whole ambience thing goin’! The original part of the restaurant where you are seated/served is pretty much like it was when the restaurant started. Upstairs can be kinda noisy so we prefer the bar and they know we like table 2! Nothing fancy and nobody dresses up.

Thanks, April. I'm not sure how far it is from me, but it would be a fun day trip in the spring. I am in Oskaloosa, which is southeast of DM. I will keep the info and see if it will work out for us in the spring. Do you happen to have their phone #?

Almost every Saturday my husband and i drive almost an hour from home for a fantastic fish dinner (yes, it’s that good!). We have done this for many years and have become good friends with the owner of the restaurant.
I am one of those people who saves worn out jeans for some unknown, future purpose 😊 one day i got to thinking that over the years we have worn out a lot of jeans in our weekly travels to this restaurant - so why not take some of those jeans and make a rug for the owner? This is what i came up with and she loved it! Thought i would share...
