Sometimes a quilt just says it needs to be hand quilted. When I made a Japanese Lantern, had no time to hand quilt. I was never satisfied till I made another and did hand quilt it. I still love them both but the hand quilted one just looks complete
That is one beautiful quilt and in mho should have been hand quilted just out of respect to the person that hand pieced it. Guess it is better machine quilted than to lay around as a UFO.

I new that I can not do hand quilting because I am giving it back to the owner and not being sure where this quilt is going to end at, I did not feel that I can put all that time it will take to hand quilt. But, the whole time I was machine quilting I felt discomfort, knowing that it should have been hand quilted. Most likely I will always feel dissatisfaction, discomfort because of that.

Maybe in a perfect world, it could have been hand quilted. But we don't live there. You did a great job on this gorgeous quilt. Be proud, and happy that this beauty will be enjoyed for many years.

Your quilt is absolutely beautiful. A few years ago, I was shopping at a place that had a mix of crafts and antiques. On the floor all wrinkled up was a Joseph's Coat quilt top - hand pieced. It was $14.00. Needless to say, I was excited.
I gave it a home and the top is now finished hanging in my sewing room. It is hand quilted. My grandson has asked that I give it to him when I let it go. If I ever learn to post pictures, I will do so. Your quilt is a treasure.

It is gorgeous!!! I agree with you about the hand quilting. But, only another handquilter would understand your thinking. Handstitching gives it a softer feel, and it does take time to do it. thanks for sharing.
