Default the joy of small quilts

for several years I have been making "real" quilts -- meaning bed size quilts. Recently, I have been making place mats and wall hangings.

For the last 2 months, I have been doing the mini swap. Total freedom!!! to try off the wall ideas

Look!!! -- I already have an off the wall for the March swap

The way I will be travelling this summer -- SMALL I good

I love making mini quilts. Last year Aurifil threads had BOM and each month was a different mini pattern. I've made 3 so far.

Those are really cute! I bought all of the monthly mini quilt kits from Connecting Threads last year. I've got about half of them into tops but haven't quilted any of them yet.

I love mini quilts, I can try any pattern or technique without feeling overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of a larger quilt. Plus, I love the challenge of making true miniatures. I once made a 5" square quilt composed of 4 basket blocks and a couple of borders.

They used to have a mini quilt magazine. Don't you wonder why they don't do it again? Vi

I have about 15 Row x Rows to work on. I consider them my small projects too! Great job!

I love your mini quilts, especially your kite. A couple of years ago I was making a kite pincushion for the swap, and yes I had a tail off of it too with bows from scrappy fabric. I loved that little pincushion.

I don't think that there is a certain size for a quilt to be called "real". Wall quilts are fun and quick to make for a break away making larger size quilts. Love the kites flying, I have used that Hoffman plaid it in many Xmas quilts.
