Thank you soooo much, pocoellie! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing my work! Six inches is way out of my ballpark! But I admire all those giant-sized blocks you guys do! They are the greatest!

Thank you, sodymare! I just adore that block also! Remember the time I wondered how anybody could like that block; then found myself doing one!! haha. Love the dark red too. Wanted to tell you that dk. red in the lst pic fabric is over 100 yrs. old. It was given to us by an elderly woman, distant relative of the family, and the fabric looks as good today as it did then. They made things so well back then. It has white stars on it. When I didn't like doing the "Y" seams on the machine, I think I hand pieced a lot of it back then. Thank you for your nice words! :-)

Thank you, ranger!! I just adore the tumbling blocks. I really should finish it. People really loved it when it was displayed in a shop. I have been meaning several times to tell you how much I love your avatar!!! It is so beautiful and well done! Everytime I see your pic, I'm reminded to tell you. These 3-D quilts are so effective and attn-grabbing. I'm working on one now just for something different to do and really loving it. Thank you for admiring my work and commenting. It's so appreciated!

Thank you, mimee4, for the nice words! It's so appreciated and am beginning to realize it's not everyone's cup of tea ability-wise. Thank you again!

Never dawned on me to make them a different size! (trying not to rock the boat, don't you know <g>)
I find myself drawn more and more to that mini concept! Just trying to figure out if more smaller blocks makes a lap robe (60x72) heavier?
Yes, you can make them any size you want and use up a pc of ugly fabric you don't like as your fdn. pc, or do like me and use the el-cheapo muslin for that. You should try a 3" or 4" block to see how you like it. Start off with a block w/minimal # of pcs so you don't get discouraged and you'll love it. The smaller bl. won't make your robe heavier, but it'll take much longer to do, naturally. Paper pcing them will make it lighter weight; it just washes away. Is your lap robe a lap quilt or is it a robe that's lap size?
