That is a beautiful quilt!! They will love it & the fact that you made it for them! My DH was laid off forever after 41 yrs & I know it's a SHOCK for them! 43 people were were laid off that day after a buy-out & I'm disabled. I just know that the quilt will mean the world to them because you made it with kindness.

The bad news just doesn't seem to stop. They say that the unemployment figures have dropped but I don't see anything improving for a while. I hope your friend can find employment again, it doesn't sound like he can retire yet. Your quilt is sure to be a comfort.

What a beautiful quilt it will be and such a thoughtful gift. That happened to my husband and several men 16 years ago. One man had been there 33 years and his wife had cancer and he was working to help pay for her medical bills that insurance didn't cover or he would have already retired. My hubby got a job, but it was night shift, lower pay, etc. and we had 2 kids in college and one a Senior in high school and I had just had my second hip replacement surgery. It worked out to the good and it was still a job, but it was hard for a while. When God closes a door, he opens a window is what one of the sayings is, but I don't know that it's God closing the door, but He will take care of everything. Praying for the best.

Beautiful quilt and it is so nice of you to give it to your co-worker. I must say that this board is always so inspiring and members are so encouraging. I lost my job this year too. I am still unemployed and even though I have enjoyed not working and spending my time learning to quilt, I will have to find a job soon. I am running out of funds and need to buy more fabric!!

That will be very nice when it's done. It's sad so many are losing their jobs. I hope he finds something suitable in a short time.
