That's funny, after admiring the overall pattern of your quilt, the next thing I saw were cute pinwheels. But after going back to the photo (after reading your comment) I realised that my brain was seeing a pinwheel that wasn't quite there.

Oh!!! You're so right!! Thank you for making me know I'm not missing something and not going crazy.

This is one of those blocks that can make different secondary patterns, depending on how you orient the blocks and whether your darkest lights are still lighter than your lightest darks. (Try to say that fast 5 times). Since your lights are all the same fabric, you can get all the pinwheels by turning the blocks so you have the large dark triangles top left/bottom right and the large light triangles top right/bottom left. But the way you have it, with 4 light large triangles together and 4 darks, it makes a different pattern, also very pleasing. It looks like it would be a lot of fun to play with the pattern, but easier using EQ. And oh those points! You're doing a great job with them.

Thanks, dunster. I have it created on EQ6--before I found the pattern in a book... so I'll rotate later.

Oh--the pattern is in Marsha McCloskey's Block Party and it's called Woodland Path.

Here's what I had created... I always do that BEFORE I find the pattern.

I also found the block in Debby Kratovil's Quilter's Block-a-day calendar under the name London Square. She shows it as an 8" block - is that what you're making?

I love what you've got so far and I can see why the original quilt inspired you. It's beautiful.
