    Default Kaffe Subdued

Let's just say I'm more of a traditional quilter. I bought this Free Spirit jelly roll of Kaffe fabric to make a tote bag for a quilty friend. When I unrolled it I couldn't envision putting all these fabrics next to each other! So it sat. Along came a new quilt group put together by Leslie Rutland called Seasoned Makers and this was a suggested pattern, called Checks and Balances. I thought by cutting up the Kaffe strips and pairing them with white it would subdue the overall effect. I'm not in love, but it is done. I had purchased a 3 yd. bundle of 108" for the backing and used it for the borders too. It ended up being 72" x 86".kaffe-subdued.jpg

Lovely, the border makes it zing.

I’d say you solved the problem.

I agree with you. Kaffe and Tula Pink fabrics make me cringe when used exclusively. I think you did a fabulous job of 'taming the beast'. It is bright but not blinding.

It's really beautiful, and you chose such a nice border fabric.

It's a beauty! Subdued somewhat, but I'm a fan of Kaffe's fabrics and wouldn't have minded a little bolder. Great work!
