I had stored some lingerie with something dark that bleed onto the silk. I was able to remove MOST of the color w/o destroying the fabic or the original color. I used Grandma's Secret Spot Remover that I bought at my local quilt store. It come in a 2 oz bottle and has a yellow label. You might want to try it.

My very first quilt was tought to me by a Lakot grandmother. It truly was an honer to learn from her. My husband and daughters are native as well. But we learned of this just in2005.
My husband was told he had a bad liver and heart. So I was lost with saddness. Quilting, her kind word and firm teachings helped me and my family get through our emotional hardship. We thank her sooo much.

I have been unable to find Retayne. Where did you buy it? I've used the vinegar/salt method, which seemed okay. But for this quilt I didn't foresee a problem (the normal prewashing seemed sufficient at the time).

According to the internet Retayne sets dyes, Synthrapol suspends dye particles that are still coming from the fabric so they don't settle on the fabric but go out with the rinse water, at least as I understand it. So I am not sure which would be the best...maybe someone else could offer more expert guidance. I don't feel you could go wrong with the dye grabber sheets though.

I absolutely love your quilt!!!! Wonderful job.
I made a quilt with navy blue, red, green, yellow, and white flannel. I used the dye catcher sheets and have never had any bleeding. I was a nervous wreck the first time I washed the quilt, but thrilled when it came out of the washer. I use the dye catcher sheets regularly.
