Oops ... read this too late :) Normally when I work on projects and I want to consider design or fabric choices, I lay it out on my work table for a day or two and just keep looking at it in different lights of the day. Sewing room is directly opposite the bathroom so lots of opportunity to see it and think about it.

I had the tree posititioned with pins just laying on the table. Husband came home and he had been waiting for me to "do the trees", he took one look and said "wow! perfect". So I stitched them down.

I'll just have to work the palm fronds around the landscaping. If tips of fronds cover slightly the points of land on each side of the bay, I'm not too bothered.
