To me a lap quilt is one that is bigger than a baby quilt, but smaller than a twinsize.
Here in the high Sierras, when is is cold and snowy outside there is nothing better than to climb in your recliner with a good book, a hot drink, and a warm suggley lap quilt.
They make great donations to Senior Citizen Centers, Wounded Warriors, and Children's Hospitals. These sometimes forgotten ones need a little lap quilt love.

I love to make laps. They are so personal and make great gifts. I almost always back them with flannel. Colorado is also a great place to cozy up with the hubby under a lap big enough for two.

Great Job ! At the moment I have a "thing" for butterflies so that is the leader... but well, I really like the pattern (design) of the bottom one... but the top one is neat... Oh heck just glad I don't have to pick a favorite
