    twinkie, your prom picture on the reception table must have brought a smile to everyone who saw it. Sometimes our first choices turn out to be the best ones, don't they?

    Looking back at the original posted quilt top, after looking up an explanation and tutorial on the D9P, something I heard or read long ago came to mind:

    A husband told his wife he couldn't understand why she bought nice big pieces of fabric, cut it all up, and then sewed it all back together into a big piece again.

    The D9P takes the process a step or two farther, doesn't it? After sewing the pieces back together, you cut it up again, and once again sew those pieces back together.

    However, it surely makes a pretty quilt pattern!

    I agree, darker boarder first. Your quilt is beautiful, love the colors, to me also retro... He I am sure will really like it as well. hmmm Senior Prom huh? :)

    I see you are from Reno, did you start in Vegas? I am from Vegas (for 25 years) grew up there.
