Default LBB (Little Brown Bird) #16 and I made some changes. Thanks for looking.

I'm pretty excited to post this one because I changed a few things from what it was supposed to look like. I didn't like the bird in the pattern. I couldn't tell what kind of bird it was supposed to be. I know the designer of this quilt is from Scotland or Ireland, can't remember which. And maybe the bird was common there. But I didn't know what colors to use for the bird and decided to change it all together. I had to move some of the rose hips so they didn't get in the way of the cardinal's crest but everything else is where it's supposed to be.

I also didn't like the designer's use of little fluff stitches along the edges of the leaves. What leaves have beards? I don't have anything like that around me and I live in a national forest. So, I didn't put those on either. I added some fall leaf colors hoping that it would soften the bright red of the cardinal.

I'm ready to start working on the borders..... so probably won't be posting as often. But, thank you for checking out my picture and I'd love to entice some of you all to work on this quilt with me. I know, some are. MaryR and JanieH are working along with me..... can't wait to see some of their work, too.

Beautiful work Jean. Love your interpretation. We have a cardinal pair that come down to our back deck at least once daily. I named the mail "Robert Redbird" and the female "Peaches.

Great re-organization Jean and I am sure it was a good decision to Americanize the bird. No bird quite like the Cardinal, most likely the best loved American bird ever.
