OMG, I have that same background fabric. I bought 3 yards and have been hoarding it; I use it stingyly! And your work is beyond description. Wish I could get you to teach my son!

Oh this reminds me of the William Morris Applique patterns.
How beautiful if I was not up to my neck in a stack of wall hangings for the church and starting the WM patter I might give yours a try. Thanks for sharing Ed.

I think the main thing is knowing when to stop the stitch as you get to the tip to that when you pivot the machine will not swing the stitch out into the background and make a blunt tip on the piece.

It's still a work in progress as well. I have all the blocks made, I need to start on the appliqued borders next. It's going to be a long term project as well. :)

Your fabric choices are super....will be another beauty:) Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I esp. like the "background" story of why things are the way they are....makes it an even more interesting quilt.
Let me see your version as you progress on it, I'm looking forward to it!

My machine is a Brother, but I think most machines should have a blanket stitch. Is it an older machine? Basically the stitch takes one straight stitch forward, then a stitch to the left, then a stitch back to the right, then repeats over and over. Does your machine have something like that?
