I've always loved that design, it's on my 'to do' list. Beautiful work, thanks for the tutorial.

I finished four of the diamonds and have put them on the board for you to see. They are not sewed together yet.

I have some more tips for you. The strip pic shows the rows labled A to F or whatever you lable your strips.

I take one strip from each pile to make a diamond, I lay those on the table by themselves, paying careful attention on what side I sew together. I sew sets of twos together and then sew those sets of twos together.

I lay two strips together, turn one side down and match the seam, I put a pin through the top seam and catch the bottom seam, I check to see if it did and adjust accordingly. I then sew the seam together. If a seam is off, I rip it and repin and resew. It is important that the diamonds match.

WOW! Rosy this is amazing and I am so thankful you are doing this tut as a pictorial too. So so beautiful. I love the finished one too. I, just like others who have posted here, have been too afraid to do this. It just seemed too daunting but really following what you have laid out makes it look so much easier. Thank you so much!

I cannot wait until you post more pictures!

Missy, the hardest part of this quilt is taking the time to match the seams. It goes slow but so worth the effort. You can do this quilt, really.

Well..I am sure going to give it a shot this winter! I will have my laptop right next to my cutting and sewing table. Seeing the pictures as you progress in the process makes it look much easier than it would appear to me. Thank you again!

I sewed two sets of diamonds together and then sew those sets together for half the star.

The diamond seams are pressed in opposites direction so the seams nest together when you sew them together.

For those of you who have a star and don't know what size to cut the square that goes into the finishing the star. You can see a perfect square on the right and left. Measured down and accross for the square add the 1/4 inch seams and you have your square. The large triangles are half of the same square. Stay tuned. Once I do it, I will post exactly.

thank you for the compliment. I didn't pick the fabrics. The young couple did and they picked a foilage palette and it looks great once it went together. They also picked the way or order that the fabrics should be placed in the quilt. I am very impressed.

He has an artistic eyes that I know of but I guess she did too.
