In another thread we were talking about the most we had spent on creating a quilt. I also mentioned about what a "bargain hunter" I was. Always looking for antique items, collector items, and of course fabric! Well this is what I found at our local Goodwill store yesterday!

The set of 8 are all half-yard pieces. All coordinated. They came packaged together in a plastic bag. Cost was $2.00

The other two pieces were just thrown into the bin. The gold blender is a 2 yard piece from Blank textiles, dated 2002.
The Red calico, which I was SO excited about is a 2 yard piece, and has Marti Michelle on the side and is a springs industries piece, and I have no idea the age. It does have a beautiful feeling to it, and a higher thread count. I was just thrilled because I am collecting for a patriotic quilt, and this piece is just perfect! The final cost? The clerk charged me 50 cents for each piece!

Like I said, it is ingrained in my soul to be a scavenger. The thrill of the hunt... not only for fabric, but many other things too! Now I dont find bargains like this everyday, but quite often. One night I stopped in about 8:30 pm. I found a huge wad of reproduction 30's print fabric, all new and unwashed. There was almost 9 yards! I think I paid around $4.00.

I had surgery about 6 weeks ago, and soon after I was out of the hospital and able to drive, the first place I wanted to go was the Goodwill. I happened to find a brand new Ronco Rotesserie oven, in the original box. I had to flag a man down to ask him if he could help me get it to my car! He was envious of my find! (My sister has one and uses it all the time for rotesserie chicken... yum!)
Well, enough of my escapades... just wanted to share with all of you.

Ninnie, your Goodwill store may be like ours. They get fabric in, but the sorters are quilters so it never makes it upstairs!

I've never found any fabric at Goodwill...but I found the rug that is in my dining room(Brand New with tags). Also found a black beaded silk top for my best friend. She will be wearing it to her son's wedding.
