I bought one of those machines for my Grand-daughter, Maya, when she was 5 years old. She made one quilt top with it. At the age of 6 we upgraded her to a small Janome that I paid $49.00 for. She's now working on her third quilt top on that particular machine. The Janome is a much better machine than the 1st, not as noisey and has several decorator stitches to choose from. The only draw back is, that, when I bought it I didn't realize that it didn't have have a built in light, which would have been nice to have. She's now 7 and is a wonderful quilter. We'll have to upgrade her again soon due to her great progress. I didn't want to spend a lot of money until I was sure she would like to sew.

That is so cool. Good idea to start her out like that. A bigger machine may intimadate her
