We spent two hours cleaning her up, hubby cleaned and oiled the machine while I oiled the cabinet. She is looking pretty good for her age. :)

I have never taken interest in old machines, but after seeing this I had to go out to our old shed and check what kind of machine is in this old cabinet. I always thought about fixing it up, but haven't. This one is an old treadle and it says "The Eldredge" on it. It is a beautiful machine. Cleaning it would make a world of difference. This machine was left in the old house attic. When we tore the house down top build this one it was put in the old garage. Now I want to bring it in BADLY!! after I seen what you did to yours. What did you use to clean the cabinet etc.

pvquilter, I let it sit overnight to acclimatize to our house then I used Orange Oil on it. I put a good coat of oil on and left it stand for an hour then wiped it down with a soft flannel shoe shine cloth.

Hubby used machine oil to clean the head, it had lots of gunk under neath, then he wiped it down and oiled it every where the manual said to.
