    What you call hideous, I love! If nothing else, that would make excellent quilt backs. You could even use the design as your quilting guide, by quilting with the backside up.

    You're a lucky quilter to have all that fabric given to you, and I think most of it is very pretty. Someone recently gave me a large box with nice cotton fabric, and I've been making lap quilts with most of it, to give to the nursing home patients, where my daughter works as a nurse. So all I have to buy is the muslin for backing and the batting, and donate the hours of love as I quilt. You might be able to do something like that in your area. There is always a need for lap quilts. Enjoy your new stash!
