I love it and I want one. I've got a BIL also who is handy with the saw, hammer, drill, etc. I'm going to ask if he can build me one. We call him "SLAH" Somthing Like a Husband - you just pay cash for his services. :D

My BIL has done some woodworking, but I don't think he is an expert. That being said, he is an engineer, so he is precise and detailed orientated. It took him less time than I expected (maybe three of weeks, mainly because I was suppose to buy the cogs and didn't do it right away.) He has made contacts at various hardware places, so he knew where he could get the material at the cheapest prices.
He measured the area where I was going to put it and that determined the length of the frame. The room is 12' but the fame is a little smaller, I think around 11'.
BIL got most of the stuff local, so it would be cheaper, but he didn't feel confident to make the cogs. More parts may be purchased, if your DH/BIL/BFF doesn't feel confident.
After setting it up in the room, there was several iterations of tweaking, taking maybe another week or two.
I practiced on 3 yards of the cheapest cotton material and batting that I got at Walmart. It took a while to get the railings smooth enough and finding the correct settings on my sewing machine. Then there is the fact I can't draw a straight line... which may help me with meandering.
I always said, even if I only used it to baste the quilt, it would be worth it. Being able to quilt on it, it pure gold.
Do be aware, with my 7" throat, I can only quilt a strip of about 4" at the beginning of the quilt and 2.5" at the end of the 3 yards.
This particular quilt is about 68" by 52"
For the colored fabric, I used a half a bali pop plus an extra strip of fabric from a leftover. I got some white (enough for 21 - 2.5" strips). Also fabric for the borders, binding and backing. The Summer in the Park on line, uses two jelly rolls. (Isn't that 40 strips each light and dark?) So it would be almost twice as large. Each square is 8.5" - 8" finished size.
