After my sisters helped me sandwich and baste my fist quilt by crawling on the floor, my BIL asked if there weren't frames that could do this. After he and I investigated various plans for quilting frames on the internet, I picked one. My DH paid for the materials and my BIL did all the work.

It took a while to get it all set up and working in my sewing room (aka guest bedroom), but finally I finished testing/practicing and loaded a quilt back, batting and top. Then quilted. I think it turned out pretty well.

The quilt is small Summer in the Park found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5WgTyqB8Pc.
The frame can be found at http://buildaquiltingframe.weebly.com/index.html.

Is that a special sewing machine or your regular sewing machine?

They did good work. And your quilt looks fabulous.

Just my regular Brother PC420 (my only sewing machine). It has about a 7" throat.

What size did your quilt end up being? Did you use one light color and one dark color jelly roll (two in all)? It's a beautiful quilt and I'll be making one very soon.

Wow, I followed the link for making the frame.

What a great idea - and there is certainly a market for it.
Even if you buy all the options that he offers, it's still fraction of the cost of any other frame.
I loved looking at the pictures of customers' frames - especially the lady that painted hers pink and teal!

How nice of your BIL to help with the construction.
    Your quilt looks wonderful.
    Enjoy your new toy!
