So, Sept. is my bday month and I've been celebrating and buying all month! Aside from the fabrics, charm packs, and misc other items, these 2 "gifts" I should say I bought with the money I received from my parents, yes, as old as I am, they still send me something :-)

Today is the best day ever as I got these both today!!! The left is from Ebay, a 1939 Featherweight 221, and the other is from Craigslist, a 1950 Featherweight 221-1, which I drove 4 hrs. total (2 hrs each way) this morning to pick it up. My collection is off to a good start! Oh, and you won't believe the prices! Now I need to find a reputable place that services these specific machines! Any suggestions around Durham, NC?

I can't stop smiling!   Of course, everyone else in the house thinks I'm CRAZY!!!!

Thank you all! My bday was the 2nd and I was feeling a little down, I guess the mid life crises is kicking in. After a month of not really starting anything, I just started piecing last week for the bedroom quilt. Now if only I could win the lotto then life would be just as grand!

    Jim's Gem: Happy belated bday

Happy Belated Birthday Crafty1 and Jim's Gem mine is next Wed the 30th. I won't embarrass you by asking how old!

I love the machines! I have a 1950's Singer and that is what I sew with. I got it at a yard sale almost 30 years ago for $25! It is in a cabinet tho and has a knee control instead of a foot one. I would find it hard to part with!!

Icollect the old sewing machine drawers too. They are really useful!

I fully understand your excitement!! Whoohoo!! So happy for you!!!

Happy Birthday! And what a find! I have my grandmother's featherweight. I found a shop to service it. (A sewing machine repair business located inside a quilt shop.) Since then I learned that one of the other quilt shops here has a class to teach you to do it yourself. I plan on taking it. Once you start looking around, I bet you will find a place near you that services featherweights. ENJOY!

I am not familar with anyone that will specificaaly service those, but perhaps you could call a local quilt shop! Try ETC Crafts in Cary, NC or the Bernina Fabric store in Raleigh. I have dealt with both of those business before moving. I can't vouch for he sewing machine repairs, but the staff at both of these were always very nice and helpful. Also, if Carolina Sew and Vac in Raleigh is still in business, they may be able to steer you to someone that can service your "new babies". Good Luck!
