I love the colors you had at first. Very rich looking, but I don't know what your quilt wants to say: "I'm a bit flamboyant" or "I'm more conservative." Whatever you choose is your own creation! Again, happy sewing!

Try to avoid checks, stripes, or anything else that has a directional pattern---- the small florals and wavy patterns are a good choice. :D

Do you have a design board to work on? They really help a lot when you are making color choices on a pattern like this one.
Learning the hard way, I totally agree with BottleBlonde about those checks, stripes, etc. Your quilt is looking super! Merge in those many hues of each color and it will continue to please everyone. As for a design board, if you are like me I do not have room for a large board so I have purchased the old-styled picnic table tablecloth. You know the kind with plastic on one side and sticky batting-like flannel on the back. Anyway, I throw that over a bed, lay my blocks out, rearrange them a million times and then fold the tablecloth up to put it away until I start on project again. The blocks stay put.

Do keep us posted at the completion of your quilt. :)

I think they are beautiful. Of course, purple is my favorite color. Be sure to post a picture of it when you are finished.

I love your ideas...however, I would choose a bit less of a kelly green for the darker green diamond and go a bit more toward the olive that appears to be marbled on the white piece. They are totally different color values. Just a thought offered with a smile. It will turn out lovely whatever way you go!
Thanks for your honesty, Sassy, I really appreciate that. I had wondered about the kelly green, so you're confirming a faint suspicion I had. I'm waiting until I get my 'allowance' from DH so I can go get some FQ's...one to replace that patterned purple that feels off and probably one to replace that kelly green.
