It's a new/different way to think! And it seems like it should work!

But even so, if given the proper tools, it seems like there should be less than plus/minus 1/8 inch (or more) variations in the strip widths.

ok, you have inspired me to finish a quilt that someone gave up on and donated to be a charity quilt, it is all flannel(sigh) and it was dusty so someone put it thru a washer and the 1/8 seams opened (sigh) and the corner blocks shredded (sigh) have resewn all the seams, and will make the corners into a snowball type block - then attach the borders - the backing is too small so will find some flannel at joannes will have to wash it but will serge the edges first! then i will layer and quilt it and use the backing piece to make binding----ok, i will do this, it will build caracter-----and it is a pretty peach tones (smile) someone will cuddle a baby (keep that mental picture)

I'm glad you are inspired. I have to tell you that I really love this quilt now. I can see it on a little girl's bed or wrapped around her in comfort. Isn't that what charity is about, not giving our least effort but the best we can do at the time? I still have it hanging up so I have to walk around it so it can tell me how it needs to be quilted. Don't worry, I do this with all of them. LOL

It's an illusion. I made the blocks in matching sets. I turned some of them and arranged it to look random. I didn't want the same squares in a block. Thank you for the compliment.
