Oh yes, I know the 30's and the 40's. I think I must have lived during that time in my previous life. I love the colors, the fashions, the hair styles and mostly the music.
Up towards the start of this thread (page 2) is a photo of the pattern I am using.

Well, first snag. When I made my practice block out of scrap, I kept having trouble getting the 1/4" seam. Last night I realized why. My sewing machine is made for a 3/8" seam. I can get a 1/4 seam, but it is a struggle. Would a 1/4" presser foot help? Couldn't hurt? Right? Anything to help hold the fabric on both sides of the needle instead of my fingers!
I guess I'll go to Joann's and see if they have one. I've only been there 3 times this weekend and Hancock's once. Now I understand why quilters accumulate so much stuff! I only thought I had everything I needed to get started!

Choosing the fabric is the hardest part and you did a great job. Now the quilt will be a learning experience and remember we all learn from our mistakes. Actually when you think about it, there aren't really any mistakes just learning curves. Post a pic when your done and remember to yell if you need help.

The fabric and the pattern are great. Really understand the multiple trips to the fabric stores, the ladies in our local JoAnn's know me by sight. Please keep posting as you work on the quilt, I think most of us really like to see the project unfold, specially with a newbie. Thanks for sharing.

Problem with the 1/4" seam solved. My sister just left. She brought me the cutest little Singer Featherlite. 40 years old or older and works like a charm. She is a very good sewer and has lots of machines. She said I would enjoy using this one. Only one problem. She also took me to lunch and we each had two margaritas. So no quilting for me this afternoon!
