Made this quilt for my son for Christmas. Got the idea (with permission) from a Carol (Mamacjt). The back design is referred to as a zipper design. I love it. I quilted it myself on my friend's long arm, first one I've quilted - and I am very pleased with the results. I used gold thread for the quilting.

Used two different golds, one is a Jo Morton (Coventry) and one is black ants on gold

This design is called a zipper style

Here you can see the ants better

    That is gorgeous!
How do you get the binding corners so perfectly square?

Love the fabrics. I'm a Mizzou Tigers fan, so black and gold are my favorite colors.

Thanks for the compliment, Ms Grace! I do the traditional method, using 2 and a half inch strips, folded in half and pressed, I sew up to the quarter inch at the corner, take the piece out of the machine, do the 'binding fold' put it back under the needle and continue on to the next corner. I think cutting the thread at the corner helps with a neat turn. About.com Quilting show a nice tutorial at http://quilting.about.com/od/binding...ed_binding.htm (see pic) Also, I use thinner thread in my hand-stitching on the backside. I use Super Bob's Superior thread from the pre-wound bobbins (www.superiorthreads.com). Being thinner it 'sinks' into the fabric better and hides the stitches really well.

Loretta - Is your cat trying to tell you something?

What a great quilt! I don't believe the pattern is a copyright, though it is wonderful that you asked!

So beautiful! I am drooling over all those black and white prints. You have some really unique ones! The ant fabric is neat too!
