Oh Ninnie...BEAUTIFUL :D :D :D Thanks for posting the pics all together here and for the hints, too!!! Good Job!!!8) 8) 8)

I like the ideas for a solid border then a braid or zig zag and I like the upper right block for cornerstones. What ever you decide on, I can't wait to see it

    http://www.quiltville.com/pioneerbraidborder.shtml

Bonnie Hunter calls it a Pioneer braid
Some lady wrote a book on "French braids"
Mary Ellen Hopkins calls is a Bunkhouse Braid.

Guess which one I call it! LOL

After thinking about the top all evening, I have decided to make it bigger. I have cut out 96 / 3"squares and 48 / 4.4" squares this morning and will make 3 more 16" blocks to add on. then the center will be48" by 64", and with the border it will be just right for a lap quilt for our den!
Also have decided on a border, will not tell now, I do have a habit of changing my mind in the middle of a quilt top!  Also, I had 3 more squishys to come, so can incorporate the new fabrics into the top!

I love this-- I love scrappy quilts-- will have to add this idea to my "list"
