Looks like you used your time wisely. I'm in awe of anyone attempting that quilt.
My girlfriend got a large enameled cast iron French oven (you know, one of those really expensive ones). When she went to use it for the first time, she found out she couldn't lift it with a roast inside.

Tartan, that was my dad's favorite saying, except he would add "... but it's better than the alternative"

I have zero interest in making one of those, but I can appreciate YOUR labors. BTW, I had to give up MY love affair with cast iron after I broke my wrist badly.

Great use of your recuperating time. Hope you feel better soon. I don't think I could ever tackle a quilt like that!

Lovely quilt...looks like a lot of work...please do not give up on cast iron pots. I have every size imaginable and love their cooking abilities. I can't imagine making a roux without one,,as you can tell from that remark..I am originally from New Orleans and was raised with grandmother and mom using cast iron pots. Back to quilting great job on that quilt and many of your others that I have seen on this board...get well soon...

Those blocks look fantastic. As we get older, we have to find alternative ways to do what we always did. I'm just grateful I'm still here !

I really cannot justify one of those heavy things....empty, it weighs a ton, full it must take a elephant to lift! And to what end? Food will cook just as well in a lighter vessel..another expensive gimmick! Jmho
