Default From Malawi

The first pic was of the fabric that the village girls made into a bed runner. The lady came to me with the bed runner to ask if I could make a quilt with the fabric. The other pics are what I managed to do with the bed runner once it had been unpicked. I was asked to make the quilt as colourful as possible but other than that given free reign on design. The quilt was collected yesterday and was so chuffed that she liked it so much she cried. Without knowing it I had also embroidered the village scene as a fair copy of a painting she had brought back from Malawi where she had been on a six month sabbatical. The trip had been one of a lifetime for her So I was really pleased that I had made a quilt that had captured the adventure for her. This is the only quilt I ve made this summer as was busy putting in a new kitchen and now off on holiday to Turkey tomorrow.

These are beautiful fabrics and the quilt is wonderful. Could you please explain where Malawi is on the map? I am curious but not knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing the great pictures and story of this lovely quilt.

You did an awesome job turning the fabrics into a eye catching quilt! No wonder she was thrilled!
