Ladysuds, the issue of Fabrications Quilting for You is No 84 June/July 2013. Thank you for your comments about the quilt, as you will see the colours are there in the picture. It just happened to fit with my friends taste in colour. I must admit that I am delighted that mine looked so good and came out so well. I gave it to her this morning and she had tears in eyes and smiled from ear to ear. Take care and I hope will be able to obtain a copy of the mag.

I have adapted my own technique as I have become more confident but these are what inspired me to try it. You can use a contrast colour decorative stitch if you want, it catches the binding down and looks good on kiddies quilts. I don't sew over pins because it can wear the feed dogs, so I pin from the top as close as possible in the ditch of the binding seam into the fold of binding at the back. As the needle approaches a pin ( which I place really close behind each other,) I hold the pin head and let it gently come out in front of the needle as the fabric passes under the presser foot. Pinning takes the most time but worth doing well. I hope this helps and that the links work!
