    Thanks so much for your kind words :oops: I cannot take credit for this idea; I saw something similar on a Simply Quilts episode quite a while ago. It's one of those ideas that just keeps churning in your head until it has to come out!

    The sewing machine applique is part of a Husqvarna Viking kit called Swedish Vintage Sewing; it's from 2005, but I was lucky enough to find it on E-Bay. This particular machine is the Freja. It comes with the fabrics cut out, and the applique and detailing is done by machine embroidery.

    This could be done with just about anything; I'm looking for the right fabric to one for DD with her high school stuff on it (her letter in track, volleyball game pics, etc.) She's a big collector of do-dads, so I should have lots to choose from :D It'll be a surprise for Christmas. Her HS colors were yellow and black, not my favorites, so I'm a bit challenged in finding a fabric I can live with long enough to get it done :wink:
