Memory Quilt using Dad's Shirts
#21
What a beautiful quilt. My Dad passed away 5 yrs ago. My Mom has not been able to part with his clothes. I recently asked her to let me take them and make a quilt for her. She will get comfort from the quilt being made of Daddy's clothes. I had a hard time cutting Daddy's shirts. I felt I was invading something of his. I've only just started but have also shed many tears while cutting and sewing. I have to keep reminding myself that the end result will be wonderful for my Mom.

What a great quilt!! You were great to give it to your sister-hopefully you kept some for yourself.
I really wish I would have thought to do this - my dad loved his flannel shirts!!! It would have been neat to incorporate picutres of him actually wearing the shirts and maybe a block with his name and his dob and his date of death - that way when its passed thru generations they know who it was!!!

How pretty. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had done that when my Dad passed, but I would have made a denim quilt as when he worked on the farm he mostly wore overalls. My Dad has been gone almost 38 years and I still miss him.
I still have some of Mama's blouses, etc. that I could do a small one. My sister and her family broke into Mama's house while she was in the nursing home and stole all her quilts, etc.
