I scanned all the photos I wanted to use (and some extras) and put them all in a file on my computer. I printed pictures out, sometimes making pictures smaller or larger and working to get the right colors. When I had a stack of photos on fabric, I took them to my studio and started playing with them...I would group and just started adding strips and paper pieced blocks and ended up making rather large blocks, but wth no set design in any of them. I tried to include scanned pictures of old letters and envelopes and such...these I scanned as collages and used that as background fabrics in some places. I ended up making about 15 1/2" blocks, but had many smaller pieces and pictures within that block. I hope that helps...

I love your memory quilt! Your family will always cherish it. I made one for my brother also but it isn't quite quilted yet. I need to get it out & finish it.

What a lovely memory quilt! I wish I knew how to quilt back when my brother & parents passed.

I think you are very talented and I think your Mom is very proud to know that you have helped yourself and your siblings to heal by Honouring her in this way. Your quilts are beautiful.

Very nicely done. And the additional quilt blocks really balance nicely with the photos.
