Alot of them do survive and thrive. My son was a micro preemie born at 28 weeks. His lowest recorded weight was 1 pound 10 oz. He plays a bunch of sports and is a straight A student. I STILL have the knitted hat that was made for him in the NICU. It is in his memory box with a few other precious items. It was so appreciated. Having a micro preemie is extremely difficult and we (parents) appreciate the hand made gifts for the babies.

A wonderful idea!! Yes, a lot of the micro-preemies do survive!! My sister is a NICU med-flight nurse and flies in a helicopter transporting these wee ones to the larger NICU unit in our area. She LOVES it! She's been working with NICU babies for over 20 years!! We are getting together to make a Transport Unit cover (finally)!! She is the one who told me that they need much smaller blankets than the regular NICU unit because the babies are so tiny, they get all swallowed up in the regular NICU blankets and it's much harder to work with the babies in flight.
