Default Moda Slice and Dice Quilt

This was a free pattern I picked up at Hancocks of Paducah a couple of years ago. Finally got around to trying it!

Ooh, that looks fun. Do you make a square in a square, quarter it and swap two quadrants over with another made with same fabrics but in negative (IYSWIM)?

Very nice quilt. i'll have to remember that one's borders don't have to be the same fabric all of the way around.

That’s so soft and pretty! I love the backing too!

Very pretty. Something any young girl would love and cherish. (or older person too.)

Very pretty and feminine> Everything works together. I, too, will have to remember that borders can be varied. Great idea!

The method is actually to make a big 4 patch, then cut it, rearange it, and sew it back together. It was a Moda free pattern from a few years ago. I looked for a link, but the pattern seems to have disappeared.

Starting with 5" squares, make a big 4 patch. Then cut 1 3/4" off the top, and off the bottom of the 4 patch. Trim 1/4" off either end of the cut off pieces. Then cut 1 3/4" off either side of the 4 patch. Then flip each piece in it's place, to alternate the colors, and sew the two side pieces back on the 4 patch. Then flip and sew the top and bottom pieces back to the top and bottom of the 4 patch.

    The border mimics the blocks.

This is so coincidental for me! Kismet really! Thank you! I have just finished sewing a green layer cake to a neutral layer cake turning the whole pile into 4 patches but it's so blah! This will turn it into Wow! This is going to go together so fast for me. Again, thanks for your directions! It will be another beautiful charity quilt. Problem solved!
