    Default Model "A" Table Topper

We own a 1930 Ford Model "A" and our club will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in Sept. Some of us in the club are quilters and we call ourselves the "Threadheads". So, the club asked that we make table toppers with fabric that was made especially for them several years ago for the event. Each of us are making 2 and we can use any design we choose. I happened to have the center fabric which are car wheels. I fussy cut each of the 10 models and created somewhat of a cathedral window. I top stitched each circle with a featherstitch. I then quilted the center with straight stitching to mimic wheel spokes (hard to see in photo). I designed it myself therefore, no pattern. Each topper will be raffled off the night of the event. They all should be a hit with the members. Dh also asked that I make him a tie with the wheel fabric. Now I have to find a tie pattern.

Nicely done! My f-in-l is an old car restorer. His passion is the Model A engine. To date this great 91 yr. old wonder has restored five old autos and currently working on making a home built airplane "the Pietenpol" which has a model A engine for it's power.
