The black makes a scrappy look so sophisticated - what a wonderfully done quilt!

It's really beautiful. How do you decide that you have enough fabric to use in a scrappy? Do you start with fat quarters or just keep adding in scraps?

This is a perfect pattern for my scraps. Thank you, Jeanne, for posting the information.

First I studied the fabric requirements for the size of the quilt I wanted in order to figure out how many rectangles and squares I needed (seems like it was over 1,000!!). Then I pulled out my scraps and cut the ones with the colors I wanted to use. Lastly I figured out the colors I was missing to round out the range I wanted in the quilt and pulled fat quarters from my stash and used parts of them. I buy solid black and white by the bolt so always have that on hand.
Fortunately (or unfortunately!!!) I have enough scraps and fat quarters to make MANY of these!!

Your quilts always look so cool. Love black in a quilt. Just makes the bold colors pop even more. The quilting is great.

Beautiful quilt and quilting. I always try to use one color for the sashings and borders to break up the scrappy look.
