    Default Moon Dance

I was at a quilt shop a few months ago and saw this quilt top made in different colors than I chose but I was impressed. I bought the pattern and the ruler that went with it. The pattern is called Moon Dance, and it is by Sew Kind of Wonderful. The ruler is called Multiple QCR Mini Ruler. I don't buy 'gadgets' often, but I had to have this one. I did not like the colors on the pattern cover but having seen it made in different colors, I knew I had to make it. These colors are from my stash. It has been an interesting pattern to make. I was careful cutting and sewing and trimming each block. After that, it went together easily. This is just a flimsy and I plan to quilt it after I find the right backing fabric for it. The pattern calls for black binding, but I have enough scraps from all the moon colors that I can make a scrappy binding for it. What do you think?

    Great quilt in the making.

Absolutely! agree the scrappy moon fabrics would be perfect for the binding.

Is this the finished flimsy size?
If you put the binding on as-is, it will touch right to the moons at the outer edge.

Might I make a suggestion? ... Consider adding a white strip to the outside edge, all around, so that the moons will float and not hit the binding. Width will depend how big you want the quilt to be!!

    Love the colours you chose!!

    Thanks!
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished quilt, too.
The design could give way for some interesting quilting.
    Good Luck!

That is a really cool quilt. I am not a pattern buyer either but I see why you did it. Very cool. I haven't seen this one posted anywhere so I don't know what other colorways are out there but I love your color choses and I think a scrappy binding will set it off nicely. Great job.

That's gorgeous! Thanks for posting! I actually have that ruler (which I used once after taking a class) and have ordered the pattern.

I think a binding of multi colors would finish it well. I have done that kind of binding and think it looks great. Go for it.
