I made this for my cousin. He has done some Iron Man competitions and was raised at Lake Tahoe. He had to have mountains.   He is getting married next month. I am going to send this to California with my parents rather than mailing it. Hope they like it! I heard from my aunt that the bride-to-be likes earth tones-so maybe she will.
The pictures came out weird colors on my computer....hope it is just the settings and not my camera flipping out. Took one inside and outside and they all look off. The moons are mostly tans, light yellow, with just 3 darker yellow.

    The back side too.

They'll love it! The tonals on the moons look like craters, very nice job!

This is stunning. I have been admiring that pattern and now that I see it in your quilt, I am inspired. Thanks for sharing.
    Great work!

Thank you ladies! Glad you like it. I found the pattern on line but it was for a 12 inch block. I made it 9 inches instead. Used a plastic lid as the template for the moon and cut the mountains with an EZ angle ruler. The mountains are flannel. Each mountain is with a different moon. There are 6 different moons. All kind of a marble tone-on-tone.
It was fun to make. I decided to use sashing between them and found the "wood" fabric when I went to one of my classes at the quilt shop. I bought all he had and had enough to do the binding too. PHEW!
Found the backing at another quilt shop and she suggested the veragated thread for quilting. Glad she did. I like the way that shows up.
Then (as always) I put a quote on the label. I used an Irish Blessing.
I'm going to try to get a better picture for my scrapbook before I send it off.
