    Absolutely striking! On a regular sewing machine? I think this solves my Mug Rug ideas, perhaps not to your level of expertise, but my recipients understand the Love component of my gifts.

    I do some fmq but it seems to be very tiring for me. I do want to get the same kind of control that your samples display. Beautiful!
    Thanks for asking, Judy. Here are my answers:

    1. No pattern, or even much of a plan when I start. I sew the first "element" then decide what to try next, and so on.
    2. I do not have the pedal to the floor; my machine's maximum speed is 1600 stitches per minute, and I'd never be able to keep my stitches consistent if I went that fast on my Juki. My Bernina however is much slower and when using that one, the pedal is typically floored. So the short answer is, it depends on how fast the particular machine will go.
    3. Yes, the stitching looks pretty much the same on the back. I can tell the difference from front to back, but only if I examine it fairly closely.
