Have you ever tried stack n whack or have you always used your template method? I'd like to make a largish piece - lap quilt size so stack n whack should go together faster, right? I guess I'm just looking for confirmation that I haven't just wasted my money!

Oh no you haven't wasted your money. I haven'tdone the stack and whack. I don't hink it was around yet when I learned to do the dresdens 30 years ago and I had not heard of it. I saw a lady on Simply Quilts on tv do the ones I do and I knew how to do the dresdens so it was a natural for me.

I think the differances between the two methods is like apples and oranges. You may like apples and I like oranges.

I think for a beginner the stack and whack has many advantages. I have done mine for many years so of course I have to add some challenge to mine so I don't get bored!

Look forward to see what you come up with! Go for it! it should be easy!

BTW I got my pansy fabric the other day and when I get some orders done and in the mail and this tutorial I am working on done I will take a shot at a Kaleidoscope from it( I may take time to play sooner anyway!)

Thanks for the reassurance Rhonda! Look forward to seeing what you come up with for the pansies - it's beautiful fabric isn't it? Mine may be a while because I'm trying to restrain myself until i get my new sewing machine in a few weeks - I think my old machine will chew up all those bias seams!

    Rhonda:
Thank you for the info on the site. No problem I will look again in a few weeks. OMG and I thought I was a busy lady. No wonder you have had a hard time keeping up with the site.
I finally had the time to really look over the section on Kaleidoscopes. I love your technique, like it better then the stack and wack method. I will try it as soon as I get my new material.

I love the kaleidoscope designs. How did you make them?

You can see a brief tutorial on my website. I have an ebook on this so I can't do much of a tutorial on it without compromising the book.

Inspiring. I have always wanted to do this but was afraid to start with a big project. This should be a good size to start with and learn. Thanks for the ideas - yours are beautiful.
