More QAYG placemats
I decided I am going to make placemat and napkin sets for Christmas gifts. I currently have 2 sets in process and one set completed. They are all different and not all are QAYG. But I plan on doing them all on my DSM to use up little scraps of batting. This set I got the idea from Pinterest and wanted to see if I could make it QAYG. It was not too difficult to figure out and this could be jelly roll friendly as I used 2 1/2" strips for the leaf and 3/4" strips for the leaf veins. I used a bias tube for the center vein which covered up all the raw edges that met in the center and the bias allowed me to make the subtle curve which adds more interest than a straight strip. I had a lot of fun playing with scraps and stash to make these. This set will go to my boss. She has a camp in the Adirondacks and I thought these would be cute to use up at camp.
I am still trying to decide if it is worth it to make the napkins. A set of 4 that finish at about 18" square takes a yard of fabric and about 2 1/2 hours to make as I do a double fold to finish the edge and it takes a while to fold press and glue in place. It only takes a few minutes to sew it. I am thinking it might be more economical to just buy the napkins.

I love your gift plan. So lovely. And i, personally, would appreciate the cotton napkins. So many premade/store bought are made of polyester, they are never absorbent enough to use. They look good though!
