IF I want 2.5 triangles...do I just cut two strips of 2.5 and make a tube out of them? or do I need to add 7/8 to each strip that I want a certain dimension...Know what I mean? I will have to test it out. unless you know how this will work.

I would rather do my HST this way than use thangles like I usually do.

Exactly correct ... add 7/8 inch to your desired completed HST
    and, forget Thangles!
Go get the Triangulations CD from the Fabric Patch ... it is about $30, has HST starting at 3/4 of an inch up to I think 7.5 inch HST + quarter square triangles similar sizes ... with 1/8 inch increases ....
I need to send you a sample ... but what Triangulations does is allow you to select the HST you want, prints out on the printer, for example ... my most recent project ... 3" finished HST ... sewing TWO seams, my program printed out the grid that would allow me to make 8 HST at one time.

    Thanks everyone. :D

Omak you're absolutely right (as usual!) - and I can't wait to play with this method and different width strips, or several strips rather than just one and two - the possibilities are endless!

Triangulations will not allow me to make a copy and send you a sample...
or if it does, I sure don't know how to do it <g> ...
anyway, one page of triangulations with the grid will make 12 HST ...
I am on my way out and about preparing for Girl Scout Day Camp at the Post on Saturday (any volunteers?) from 9 to 4 ...
One of their goals is to make 7 quilt tops for Operation 11616 ...
anyway ... check out Triangulations ... one of the most useful tools in a quilter's tool bag (in my humble opinion!) <g>

Yes, that would work if what you want is a 3-colored HST. However, I think that what Charisma wants is a two colored HST, with just two strips ...
the technique can be used in multiple ways - - 2-colored diamonds anyone??? LOL

Can't get anything past Mousie, can we! :D It's a special kind of rock that Gai sent the kids - you put it in vinegar for a few weeks and crystals grow that look like popcorn. It grew loads til Lily got to it. Luckily it's re-growing. :D
