I can see there is a lot of work and time in this quilt. I think on top of your effort, you are truly blessed with an artistic gift in your quilting. I hope you feel satisfaction with finishing such an amazing quilt. We are all cheering for you on the qb forum. Job well done.

First of all, before I put the quilt on the frame, I marked a 6" grid on the left and right panels, aligned with the piecing in the body of the quilt, in blue water soluble marker, so I would know where I was on the quilt once it was on the frame. Then while quilting I used either a blue water soluble or purple air soluble marker to mark as I went. Beyond the border grid, I had no idea other than to do background fill for the rest of the quilt. I just worked my way through thinking up things to put on it to fill space. It's big, so I looked for some bigger motifs to take up space and if I put it on one side, then I repeated it on the other side so I didn't have to come up with twice as many and to give it some cohesiveness. I'm just a beginner with longarming, (bought my Lenni a year ago), and find the approach to it requires a bit more planning than on a Sitdown. Also, I just like to try out different fills and motifs I see out and about, and kind of made this quilt for that.

Thank you! The pattern for the quilt is Moroccan Vibe by Sew Kind of Wonderful. It's in their 2nd book and is for a 48" square quilt which is with four "lanterns". I wanted a bigger quilt, so I added onto that in my own way.
